Trivento Reserve Malbec

Discover the bold elegance and vibrant character of Trivento Reserve Malbec, a classic red wine from the heart of Mendoza, Argentina. Crafted by Trivento Bodegas y Viñedos, this wine embodies the spirit of the land, combining dark fruit richness with subtle oak nuance and a smooth, pleasurable finish.

Origins & Winemaking

Trivento takes its name from three winds—Polar, Zonda, and Sudestada—which sweep across Mendoza’s valleys and shape the microclimates of the vineyards. These winds help regulate temperature, reduce disease pressure, and create ideal growing conditions for Malbec grapes.

Grapes for the Reserve bottling are sourced from vineyards in Uco Valley and Luján de Cuyo, regions known for high altitude, dramatic temperature swings, and soils that impart depth and minerality. A portion of the wine (around twenty percent) is aged in French and American oak barrels for six months to integrate structure and softness. Some bottle aging follows before release, allowing aromas and texture to harmonize.

Tasting Profile

Color
Deep garnet red with violet hues that hint at its youth and vibrancy.

Aroma
Rich notes of plum, blackberry, and dark cherry emerge first. These fruit layers are complemented by gentle hints of vanilla, cocoa, and a touch of toast from the oak aging.

Palate
On the palate, the wine is medium to full-bodied yet balanced. Ripe berry flavors—plum, black cherry, wild blueberry lead the way, joined by soft spice, dark chocolate, and a whisper of tobacco leaf. The tannins are supple and rounded, giving structure without harsh edges. Acidity holds everything in balance, keeping the wine fresh and lively through the finish.

Finish
The finish is lingering and silky, with echoes of fruit and a touch of savory oak spice. There is warmth, but it never overwhelms; instead, it reaffirms the wine’s elegant design.

Ratings & Recognition

Widely regarded as a strong-value wine, Trivento Reserve Malbec often earns favorable reviews. The 2021 vintage was praised for its balance of black raspberry and plum flavors with hints of vanilla, oak, and spice.

Food Pairing & Serving Tips

Serve slightly below room temperature, around 60-65 °F (15-18 °C), to allow its aromatics to open while retaining freshness. Decanting for 10–15 minutes helps soften tannins and enhance the aromatic profile.

This wine pairs beautifully with grilled or roasted red meats—think ribeye, lamb chops, or flank steak. It also complements empanadas, chorizo, hearty stews, and dishes with tomato or pepper seasoning. For cheese lovers, aged cheddar, manchego, and Gouda are excellent matches.
